Red Hat is excited to announce that we have joined MLCommons, an open engineering consortium that curates the MLPerf benchmarking suite, as a founding member. MLCommons will be focusing on three important pillars to support the artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) community: benchmarks, data sets, and best practices.

When we surveyed IT leaders this year to learn about their technology goals for 2021, we were curious about the impact of COVID-19 on planning and how we can best meet our customers where they are for the coming year. What we learned? Digital transformation and security remain important, and more than a quarter of those surveyed have a hybrid cloud strategy heading into 2021.

While holiday festivities will look different this year, December—for many of us—will likely still include a flurry of closing out projects and tying up loose ends to set up for the upcoming year.

The Red Hat Learning Community (RHLC) celebrates a monumental milestone this week as it exceeds 50,000 members! At its launch in September of 2018, the main goal was simple: provide a collaborative space for open source learners to connect as they optimize their skills in working with Red Hat products. As RHLC hits the 50,000 member milestone, the platform is also home to more than 12,000 overall posts, 1.5 million page views and thousands of visitors every day. To celebrate the 50,000 member milestone, RHLC is launching a 50K member contest. 

Red Hat Renewals Intelligence is a digital platform that places renewals data and insights directly in the hands of distributors and resellers. As part of Red Hat’s Partner Renewals Engagement Program (PREP), the Renewals Intelligence platform provides partners with daily-updated data on renewal performance and exclusive Red Hat sales insights. 

With the increasing demand in the marketplace for open source technologies, ensuring that the workforce is adequately skilled to meet these demands head-on is a top priority for CIOs. Large organizations are facing a crucial skills gap, which can disrupt delivery capabilities and lead to client dissatisfaction.

We understand that digital transformation isn’t just about technology — it’s also about the process and people. How will your team get trained? How do you implement new business models to execute more rapid development cycles? And how will modernization help employers meet the needs of their employees? 

This past quarter was one of continued momentum for Red Hat and our partners, specifically when it comes to containerization. It’s clear that hybrid cloud is becoming the new normal for many global enterprises, but with that comes inherent complexities. Red Hat partners are at the forefront of this hybrid cloud revolution and often the drivers for innovation and growth with customers.

We are nearly at the end of 2020 and while the pace continues to increase, we want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate some of the successes of Red Hat's people and their work. In the last four months, several Red Hatters and Red Hat products are being recognized by leading industry publications and organizations for efforts in driving innovation. 

Building community and serving our customers is a huge part of Red Hat. Not only do we encourage customers to get involved, but we also create and foster various opportunities where it’s possible to do so. A perfect example of this is Red Hat Accelerators, which launched as an established way to serve passionate enterprise customers who wanted to share and engage with each other around relevant IT issues, remedies, and solutions.

We’ve always maintained that a diverse and inclusive organization thrives when people from different backgrounds feel comfortable being their full self when they’re at work. This includes sharing and celebrating holidays and traditions with colleagues that are important to their culture or heritage. At Red Hat, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) communities are a rich source for associates to have new experiences and learn from others with different backgrounds.

When your whole business revolves around open source, community participation, and upstream-first development, it's a reasonable assumption that you’re going to get asked about how all of that works. 

Oh, do we ever.

This week, Red Hat is celebrating an important milestone. It’s been five years since we acquired Ansible, an open source community project with a new way to approach managing systems and applications.

Early in my career, I felt like I had to be "on" all the time. Even if my boss wasn’t counting my hours, I felt compelled to constantly be engaged with work. If I had some downtime between my tasks, I triple-checked my email. If I had time to read something, I felt like I should read something directly work related. I wouldn’t let myself take a break. It wasn’t just my desire to prove myself that was pushing me, it was anxiety, which I’ve been living with my entire adult life. 

This month marks the five year anniversary since Red Hat acquired Ansible, and since then, much has changed in the IT automation world. IT organizations have always faced continual pressure to support rapid innovation at-scale, but 2020 has been an especially challenging year.

This year has produced many dynamic global challenges that changed the way people work and, especially, interact. Now, we’ve found ourselves more cut off from our friends, family and co-workers than ever before as we reside in an increasingly virtual world.
