At Red Hat, we believe that the open hybrid cloud is the future. Realizing the opportunity it offers rests on balancing data strategies, business models, and using the latest innovation. In the 10 years since its launch, Red Hat's users have spent an estimated 2 billion plus minutes on the Red Hat Customer Portal. That's more than 3,800 years that customers have spent on the site getting support, documentation, updates, and more. 

Earlier this year, Red Hat announced the creation of a cloud-based onboarding service and testbed for network functions with Intel, supporting both virtualized network functions (VNFs) and cloud-native network functions (CNFs). Since making this announcement, the world has changed.

Successful digital transformation can create sustained growth and competitive advantage, but it’s often a highly complex undertaking that requires coordination across people, processes, organizational cultures and, of course, technology. In addition, each journey is shaped by the industries in which a particular enterprise is undergoing transformation.

Summer is just around the corner and Red Hat is adding more awards to our roster! We are proud to announce that several Red Hatters and Red Hat products are being recognized by leading industry publications and organizations for efforts in driving innovation. 

Enterprises and telecommunication providers are looking at the edge as the newest IT footprint, observing the development of intelligent edge applications and monitoring the shift of workloads from traditional datacenters to the outer boundaries of public and private networks.

As we move deeper into the era of cloud computing, one thing remains clear: There’s no silver bullet for organization-wide digital transformation. We often see IT decision-makers seeking prescriptive guidance around the changing requirements of IT operations and application development in a containerized world.

The value of an organisation is reflected by its people and its culture. At Red Hat, we are immensely proud of the people within our organisation and their ongoing contribution to our vibrant culture and workplace. It turns out, we’re not the only ones to hold this view.

Once again, we've wrapped up another Red Hat Summit. We've been surprised and humbled by how many people have joined us online this year to learn about Red Hat's products and plans for the next year. Likewise, we want to thank all of our partners and customers who've shared their stories and successes on the journey to the open hybrid cloud, and their thoughts on the road ahead. Each year during Red Hat Summit, we recognize Red Hat Certified Professionals who demonstrate ingenuity, hard work and expertise by making a difference in their organizations. We’re proud to announce that Fabrice Harbulot, cloud engineer and Red Hat Certified Architect Level VII, has been named the 2020 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year.

In past years, I’ve written heavily about the importance of the open hybrid cloud to the present and future of enterprise IT.

Welcome to Red Hat Summit 2020 - our first virtual-only Summit. We are all facing unprecedented global events. From the COVID-19 pandemic and the grim situation facing healthcare systems to the worldwide economic struggles the disease is leaving in its wake, why would we even hold a technology conference, virtual or otherwise?

When we made the decision to move Red Hat Summit from a physical event in San Francisco to an online-only virtual experience, we also reconsidered what we put our focus on this week. 

Red Hat's lifecycles are carefully planned to give our customers a stable platform for building, deploying and maintaining their applications while also delivering innovation at a steady pace. Red Hat understands that undertaking planned migrations during this crisis is more challenging than usual, and we want to help take pressure off organizations while they are focused on near-term operations.
