Red Hat and ZTE have developed a new solution aimed at helping service providers more effectively deploy virtual network functions (VNFs) for Red Hat OpenStack Platform on ZTE XCLOUD hardware. This collaboration is designed to aid telecommunications companies gain greater traction in deploying 5G services with the backing of a common telco cloud infrastructure.

Editor’s note: Today, we announced that Paul Cormier will assume the role of president and chief executive officer of Red Hat, succeeding Jim Whitehurst. Paul shared the following email with all of our associates around the world. 

Hi everyone, 

For the past 20 years, Paul Cormier has helped design, craft and ultimately drive Red Hat's product direction, from the communities we support to the new technology sectors we enter. Now as president and CEO, Paul will be responsible for executing the vision for Red Hat as a whole, not just as our product leader. 

Red Hat recently announced the general availability of Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 7.3, which introduces Jakarta Enterprise Edition (EE) 8 support, enhancements to operations on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and several new security features. Along with these exciting changes JBoss EAP adds support for SQL Server 2017 on Windows and, for the first time, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

Just a few months into 2020 and we are already celebrating our successes over here at Red Hat! In fact, we are pleased to announce that we have been honored with 31 new award wins and honorable mentions. Our latest award roll call includes recognition in categories ranging from Red Hat’s unique workplace culture, our talented individuals who make Red Hat so special, our incredibly talented design and creative teams and the depth and experience of our business portfolio.

New guidance on March 13, 2020

Red Hat Product Security had a busy year, like many of you most likely did, in 2019. As each year closes we take time to reflect upon all of "the security" we and our subscribers got to interact with throughout the calendar year. We put our findings into the Red Hat Product Security Risk Report and we’re proud to give you readers a quick summary of what we saw and what we did.

Every year on March 8, we observe International Women’s Day - a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, as well as a call to continue efforts towards gender equality. This year the organizers have selected "Each for Equal" as the theme, and I’ve been reflecting on what that means to me and what it means at Red Hat. The idea of intersectional equality is something that we’ve been exploring internally and we’ve increased our efforts to be more mindful.

We at Red Hat are proud to have the opportunity to work with so many interesting and innovative organizations. One such group is the Mass Open Cloud (MOC), which is a non-profit initiative that includes universities, government organizations and businesses, and provides reliable and cost effective storage to support both its public and private clouds built on Red Hat OpenStack Platform.

Each year, Red Hat Summit is one of our favorite events of the year because it brings together our customers, partners, community members and Red Hatters to talk about the open source innovations and best practices that are enabling the future of enterprise technology.

Red Hat Summit is primarily about bringing together our customers and partners to help share practical IT insights and solutions to their computing problems. But, well, we're Red Hat. We also like to have a little fun with it and mix it up a little. Here's a few things about past Red Hat Summits you may not know, and you never know what might happen this year! 

Wondering how Red Hat is helping its customers succeed? We regularly publish customer success stories that highlight how we're helping customers gain efficiency, cut costs, and transform the way they deliver software. This month we'll look at how Microsoft, SIA, and Fortuna Entertainment Group have worked with Red Hat to improve their business.

If you ask Red Hatters why they love working for Red Hat, you’ll hear a common theme. The culture and the people. I frequently hear from new Red Hatters that it just feels different to work here. It’s clear our associates are passionate about being apart of something bigger than themselves, a movement. Last year we set out to determine how IT leaders think about open source, why they choose it and what they intend to do with it in the future. The result was The 2019 State of Enterprise Open Source: A Red Hat Report, and the findings were clear and confirmed what we see happening in the industry.

February is Black History Month, and we wanted to share some of the people who’ve influenced and inspired Red Hatters throughout their lives. We asked members of Red Hat’s Blacks United in Leadership and Diversity (B.U.I.L.D.) about black historical figures who have inspired them.
